John Cooper was born March 6, 1799 at Queenston, Lincoln County, Upper Canada and died May 25, 1874 at Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario, Canada.  He was the son of James Cooper (1770-1856) and Elizabeth Hixon (1773-1885).   On July 1, 1840 in Stamford, Welland Co., Upper Canada he married Elizabeth Cooper (1818-1890).
