Melinda Steward (nee Welter) was born December 1833 at St Thomas, Upper Canada and died May 27, 1909 at Rockford, Il., USA.  She was the daughter of John Welter (1807-1879) and Christina Bastedo (1806-1889).  On June 18, 1956 at Winnebago Co, IL, USA she married Alanson Goodnough Steward (1833-1907).
