Jane Fairchilds (nee McMicking) was born November 16, 1799 at Stamford Township, Lincoln County, Upper Canada and died November 17, 1839 at Stamford Township, Welland County, Upper Canada.  She was the daughter of Thomas McMicking IV (1749-1830) and Isabella Gass (1767-1830).  In 1835 at Hamilton, Wentworth Co., Upper Canada she married Timothy Fairchilds (1799-1884).

 

"Jane contracted what is now believed to be Polio when she was 12. She later took a teaching position at the age of 17 in Hamilton, and at the age of 35 she married Timothy Faithchilds, the spouse of a fellow teacher who died. Jane died a few years after her marriage and had a daughter. Timothy Faithchilds married two more times, his third wife being a sister of John Thomson who married Amelia McMicking, Jane's younger sister.  He died in Brantford at the age of 85." ...Mary Adeline Thompson
