Thomas MacMickin was born 1602 at New Luce, Wigtonshire, Scotland and died 1666 at Colmonell, Wigtonshire, Scotland  (some records indicate Ayr, Carrick)  He was the son of Sir Gilbert MacMickin  (1548-1610) and Baroness Elisabeth Kennedy (1567-1655).  In 1645 in Galloway, Scotland he married Grizel Craufuird* (1616-1649).

* Grizel appears to be the sister of James Craufuird of Braidland (d. 1708) who married Marion Kennedy, a co-heiress of Ardmillan. On 3 September 1658 they took possession of Ardmillan. Prior to this transaction, no other Craufuird had resided at Ardmillan, though a number of Kennedys of Ardmillan had intermarried with the Craufuird family. For the families of Craufuird and Kennedy of Ardmillan see Scottish Notes and Queries, Vol. IV, 3rd Series, pp 143-145; 161-165 which covers the descendants of James Craufuird and Marion Kennedy in detail.
.....Ref. McDowall, J. Kevan "Carrick Gallovidian", pp. 68-69 for the ancestry of Marion Kennedy
