Gilbert McMicken was born October 13, 1813 at New Luce, Wigtonshire, Scotland and died March 7, 1891 at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.  He was the son of  Gilbert Thomas McMicken (1780-1822) and Jeanette Carochan  (1779 -?).  In 1833 at New Luce, Wigtonshire, Scotland he married Ann Theresa Duff (1808 - Nov 8, 1897, Winnipeg)
