William McKerlie was born 1829 at Stamford, Welland Co., Upper Canada and died April 17, 1899 at Waterford, ON., Canada.  He was the son of John McKerlie  (1801-1879) and Rachel Pew  (1801-1885).  On January 5, 1853 at Talbot District, Norfolk Co., Canada West he married first Melvina "Vinnie" Robinson (1834-1872).  In 1873 in Norfolk Co., ON., Canada he married second Elizabeth Smith (nee Bannister)*  (1844-1896).

 

* Elizabeth Smith had three children from a previous marriage to Haggai Smith.

    - He married Kathryn "Kate" McCool 1862-1939
5  Emma J McKerlie,    b.1867 - d.1867
6  Walter McKerlie,    b. 1872. - d.1965

    - He married first Esther Leonard (1870-1920).  He married second Margaret Elizabeth Byerlay  (1872-1933)

 

Children with Elizabeth Smith:
1  Haggie McKerlie,    b.Mar. 19, 1875 - d.1939. 
2  Melvina McKerlie,    b.1878 - d.1965

    - She married Jacob Stephen Jake Wilhelm
