Sir Admiral James Startin  K.C.B., A.M. was born May 20,1855 at Middlesex, England and died September 25,1948 at Portsmouth, England.  He was the son of  William Startin, Esq (d.1865) and Mary Pate (d.1878).  In 1891 in England he married first Alice Elizabeth McMicking (1862-1923).  In 1924 he married second Ethel Jane McMicking Barrett (1865-1943).  She was Alice Elizabeth's sister.
