Alice Elizabeth Startin (nee McMicking) was born 1863 at Miltonise, New Luce, Wigtonshire, Scotland and died 1923 at Portsmouth (Hayling Island), England.  She was the daughter of  Gilbert McMicking of Miltonise (1823-1890) and Helen Mary Macfarlane (1824-1883).  In 1891 in England she married Admiral Sir James Startin (1855-1948).

 

After the death of Alice, Admiral Sir James Startin married her widowed sister. Ethel Jane McMicking Barrett in 1924

2  Robert Arthur Startin,   (1894-1967)  - married Margaret Evelyn Collins

3  Winifred Rose Startin   (b.Oct 20, 1894 - d.1960)

4  Harold William Startin   (b.1899 - d.1899)

5  Hal Startin   (1901-1987)
