John Thompson was born April 8, 1818 at Stamford, Lincoln Co., Upper Canada and died April 27, 1886 at Niagara-On-The-Lake, ON., Canada.  He was the son of James Thompson (1797-1850) and Jannet Cooper (1797-1832).    He married Isabella Pyper (1829-1872)
