John Gilbert Keefer was born August 30, 1839 at Thorold, Welland Co., Upper Canada and died April 23, 1928 at Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.  He was the son of  John Keefer (1813-1892) and Sarah Catherine McMicking (1814-1882).  In 1863 he married Sarah Bathsheba Mole (1845-1921).
