James Andrew McMicken was born 1741 at Wigtown, Wigtonshire, Scotland and died 1786 at New Luce, Wigtonshire, Scotland. He is the son of  Andrew Thomas McMickin (1717-1756) and Sarah Coyd (1719-1785).  In 1767 in Glasgow, Scotland he married Helen McDougall (1744 -?).

1  Alexander Thomas McMicken (1772-?)

2  Andrew Gilbert McMicken (1777-?)

3  Gilbert Thomas McMicken (1780-1822).
